MAHOGANY

Classification, Local Names, Origins:

Based on scientific classification, the plant is included in the family / familia Meliaceae. Plants in Indonesia known as the mahogany has many names according to region or country. In Bangli called mahagni. In the Netherlands known as mahok. The French call or acajou acajou pays, while our neighbors (Malaysia) to name this plant cheriamagany. Another with the Spanish people who know him as caoba / caoba de Santo / domingo. In Indonesia this hard woody plants have other local names, ie mahagoni, maoni or Moni. The origin of this plant from the West Indies and Africa.

Performance Plants:

Plants Mahogany is an annual plant, with an average height of 5-25 m (some have reached more than 30 m), rooted saddle with round stems, branching many, and resinous wood. The leaves form a compound leaf, even pinnate, leaf-shaped blade ovate, pointed leaf tip and base, flat leaf edge, bone length pinnate leaves 3-15 cm. The young leaves are red and after dark ,turned into green. Flowers mahogany plant is compound interest, arranged in a bouquet that comes out of the arm pit leaves. Terms Grow and Propagation:Plants are mahogany and many tropical plants found growing wild in the forests of teak and other places near the coast..
